Film - Pirates of the Caribbean on stranger tides
Before I start this, best to know that I love the pirates of the Caribbean films, so don't expect a completely impartial review.
On stranger tides is the forth film in this particular series and like the other films in the series it is a fun pirate adventure.
Don't come into it expecting an earth shattering film classic, but do expect a couple of hours of uninterrupted enjoyment. The fight scenes are great, the cast is still great, the story is stupid, but entertaining and the art direction is fantastic.
But it does not build on the franchise and it is in no way an unmissable film.
It is however well worth watching, go see it, 4.5 out of 5 brains.
Play - Avenue Q
This is something I have been waiting to see for a long long time, I'll keep this short as Sunday matt spoke about this yesterday.
Puppets, adult themes, hilarious songs, laugh out loud moments.
Go see it if you have the chance its awesome.
5 out of 5 brains.
Xbox 360 game - Fallout 3 : New Vegas
This is not a new game to me, I have spent many hours wondering the mojave wasteland in the past, just as I spent many hours wondering the capital wasteland before it. But some new DLC has recently drawn me back into postapocoliptia so I felt like talking about it.
Fallout 3 is a great game, Fallout 3 : New Vegas is also a great game.
This time you have much more control over what story you go for, 3 major factions are trying to control New Vegas and you can make the choice of who you will side with, turning the war and giving victory to the people you like the most.
Or you can make the choice to destroy all the factions and take control for you self.
The combat is first person, but aided by VATS this allows you to stop the action and pick your targets with precession, braking up the boring first person shooting aspects and letting you decide how you play.
Its a great game, you should play it.
However, this game is buggy as hell, even with all the patches to have come out, it still crashes my Xbox every few hours, some companions can disappear and break the game in the process (I'm looking at you ED-E) save games get corrupted so often you need to constantly back up your saves and graphical glitches are not uncommon
This is not what you should expect from an big studio title, nor the follow up to such a great game.
So I give it 3.5 brains out of 5 (5 out of 5 if they ever fix it)
PC game - The Tiny Bang Story
This is a game I picked up on a whim. Its a beautiful puzzle game the graphical style can not be faulted and some of the puzzles are genuinely tricky. However the main part of this game is pixel hunting, and you end up trying to click on everything to find the last little item you missed.
Its also a stupidly short game, even with all the time I spent pixel hunting I completed this game in less than 3 hours total play time and it has exactly zero replay value.
I recommend this only if you a lover of pixel hunting games, or simply beautiful games, but past that, its hard to recommend.
2.5 out of 5 brains.
