Brink.

It’s a multi player game that you can play on your own!….actually that sounds pretty sad when I read it out loud.

Okay lets get the story out of the way, don’t worry it won’t take long. Set in the Ark a utopian city that over flowed with asylum seekers since most of the world has been devastated by floods. You choose to fight on the side of the resistance who believe that the Ark must react out to anyone left in the outside world. Or the security who want to protect the Ark from the outside world.

You play though a number of team based missions with friends or in single player. The aim is to complete the mission objectives within the set time limit. Objective include defending territory, escorting hostages, hacking and sabotage. featuring a class system you can choose between four different soldier types solider, medic , engineer, operative. Each soldier has its own special skills which are needed to complete certain objectives e.g. medics can heal your team and heal hostages who have fallen so they can continue to move and operatives can hack in to things. You can switch between class at anytime during the mission but you can’t control the what class you npc team mates are which can leave you doing all the work single headed. And while we’re on the subject the npc’s have a annoying habit of disappearing in the last minutes of a mission leaving you panic and fighting of waves of baddies on you own, but to be fair that does make the game a lot more intense.

The controls work okay. Movement works well, if you hold down the sprint button you character will automatically go over small obstacles and jumps. Depending on what body type you choose. During a mission you can choose between what objective you can focus which can make thing a bit confused leaving a bit unsure what objective is more important then the other and also I still haven’t worked out how to throw a molotov cocktail.

To be fair I haven’t been playing this game very long and I’ve only played the singles campaign so im not to sure what I think about it. the missions are enjoyable although they are basically the same objectives in different orders, on different maps so I suspect I will get bored of it quite easily. You can customise you avatar but only after the earn enough experience points. A very pretty game probably more enjoyable when playing with friends, if on your own some worth a look but not worth spending a lot of money on.
