Does this mean I can use Sheila's Wheels now?

Now, I'm not too keen on the European Court on Justice. In fact, I'm not keen on the European Union, an entity which continues to enforce way too much power over the United Kingdom and leech millions of pounds from it every year, not to mention that it is likely the EU is the manifestation of an oppressive new world order which will destroy us all.

However, I do believe that the powers-that-unfortunately-be on the continent are doing something I actually (sort of) agree with; namely, increasing women's car insurance premiums in a measure to be equal with men's.

I wish that there weren't so many complaints about this, as though it were some sort of gross moral misconduct against an entire gender, or alternatively, some sort of victory for another. Firstly, we've been trying to stamp out sexism and to make basically anything that involves human interaction a level playing field for both genders for decades, so why not car insurance too? From an ethical, moral perspective, the decision is ultimately trivial and is not some sort of blight on the face of women's rights or a victory for misogyny.

Secondly- one woman on the radio today called it a "victory for boy racers". As a man, I would like to say that it is not our collective fault that a minority of petrol-heads choose to cause the kind of problems that originally made our insurance higher than a woman's in the first place. It's only fair that we all have the same insurance premiums; ludicrous driving carried out by these "boy racers" should not simply leave all males tarred with the same brush and lead to us having higher insurance than women- it should instead lead to harsher fines and sentences for the perpetrators. Why should all men be given this burden?

I say I sort of agree with the ruling, as the only thing they've gotten wrong is how they are going to level the prices; they should have lowered men's insurance premiums and made insurance cheaper, rather than making it more expensive for women. But hey, the new world order's gotta get its money from somewhere, right?

I'm pretty sure Sheila's Wheels has been open to men for years, after is was deemed sexist for them to exclude them. I think that's why you don't see Diamond around anymore.

It is all daft though. If they really were being equal, then your age or where you live wouldn't affect your premium either. I can but dream!

From what I've heard, for males, as they get older the insurance goes down. Assuming all that 'boy racer'-ness has gotten out of your system!

As for women, they go up with age, I assume they start getting 'girl racer' syndrome?
