The Time Of Your Life

I, like many others, quite enjoy the band ‘Green Day’. Though, I didn’t like them at first... I couldn’t stand them! It was only due to my sister (and MTV) constantly playing one of their live shows on the tv. Even then, I only really stayed because I liked the songs ‘Dominated Love Slave’ and ‘All By Myself’ in which the drummer ‘Tré Cool’ sings. Due to me liking these, I would watch the rest of the live show and then found myself actually enjoying more and more of the songs and so I became a fan.

Nowadays though, I’m not too fussed about them. I know I’ll be coming across all elitest (if I was truley that, it would have been spelt ‘1337’ or ‘L337’) but I much, much prefer their older stuff. Mainly the first three albums. I don’t know what it is about their stuff now, I think they got too political and whatnot and that wasn’t really why I enjoyed them. The fact that one of their old songs is essentially about masturbation and another about being a basket case (Can you guess the songs?).

Though, obviously I still enjoyed their newer stuff, until it got to ‘American Idiot’. I enjoyed it, to a point. Then I just got bored. The album just wasn’t ‘doing’ it for me the way all the other albums did, even the album ‘Warning’ I have probably played more and not gotten as bored of as ‘American Idiot’. Maybe I will get back into them, I doubt it. I haven’t even listened to their new album and have not felt the need to really!!

So, if you want to enjoy the good, enjoyable ‘Green Day’ that I will always enjoy, I would recommend you listen to the albums ‘1’030/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours’, ‘Kerplunk!’ and of course ‘Dookie’.

Then, if you’re still enjoying them, go through the rest as they came out then maybe stop by ‘Warning’... Or ‘Nimrod’.

Green Day get on my nerves now. I feel like a bit of cow by saying, 'They shouldn't be allowed to change their image, I liked them the way they are!', but it's just too jarring! The political thing was a bit of an obvious ploy to get more play time on the radio, too. Do not like.
