Films you need to see.

Leon

Léon: The Professional

This is my favourite film ever! Directed by Luc Besson and featuring a amazing cast including: Jean Reno, Garry Oldman and a young Natalie Portman. it follows the controversial love story of Matilda (Natalie) a young girl who’s family is killed by a crooked DEA agent (Gray). Who is reluctantly taken in by a mysterious loner Leon, who happens to be a skilled assassin for the mafia. Matilda convinces Leon to train her so she can avenge her family. It’s incredibly well written and features some of the best acting I’ve seen especially from Gary Oldman as Stanfield. A real must watch, if you haven’t already seen in go see it.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Staring Johnny Depp as Raoul Duke a journalist heading to Las Vegas with his Lawyer Dr. Gonzo for a magazine article but work is soon forgot and the pair embark on a drug fuelled bender the likes of which Las Vegas has ever seen. Directed by the one and only Terry Gilliam. Who gives use a amusing insight of what people go though while on psychotropic drug while also highlighting some of the negatives. It makes no sense but is really worth a look.

Deadman

Jim Jarmusch’s art house western, staring Johnny Depp (again) as William Blake a mild mannered accountant who travels to a small rural town to find work but soon finds himself lost in the wood being hunted for murder. He soon meets a outcast native American who calls himself Nobody, who mistakes William Blake for the dead poet of the same name and decides to help him on a spiritual journey to the after life. Confused? Good your paying attention then. Probably not a film for everyone but I really enjoyed it. It’s really well written and surprisingly a lot of black humour involved. And a amazing score composed and preformed by Neil Young. Also It’s in black and white but don’t let that put you off.
