Red State

** SPOILER ALERT**                      **SPOILER ALERT**                                 **SPOILER ALERT**

Kevin Smith writer, director and one half of comedy duo Jay and Silent Bob returns for another shot at the Jay and Silent Bob free big screen with Red State. being no stranger to controversy, especially when it comes to the subject of religion. Red State would without doubt will cause more tension with the local christen community and with good reason.  the release of Dogma ignited a inferno of complaints and protests and all that film had was swearing and calling god a women so who know what reaction this will get.

it's starts out the same as any Texas Chainsaw Massacre style horror movie with three teenager planning to meet a middle aged women they meet on the internet for a night of no strings group sex. but when they arrive all is not as it seems and the trio find they have been tricked and drugged. they wake up to find themselves prisons of fundamentalist preacher Abin Cooper who plans to inflict god judgement on these sinners in front of his followers. The group it self bears a very close resemblance to the Westboro Baptist church fame for its disrespectful and offensive protesting of funerals of soldiers, even those they make it clear during the film that they are not the same. So, the good thing about this film is when you think you have the plot figured out it flips it in to a different direction completely. after are first victim "gives confession" the church attracts the attention of police ( for a completely unrelated reason). a fatal mistake by the police leads to a  guns a blazing battle between church members and a ATF swat team lead by the one and only John Goodman, who surprisingly good in a gun fight despite the fact that he can barely run. soon the kidnap victims are forgotten about all together or killed by the police in the chaos as the police attempt to whip out the church and cover up the mistakes they made.

To be fair if its no holds barred blood and gore your after you will be disappointed. buts it really is worth a watch if not for the ending alone. you'll leave feeling confused and unsure but once you take it all in you'll realise what a good job Kevin put into this film. not a amazing film but different, a risk and that what we really need is more risk taker in film they won't always pay off but when they do they'll be worth the risks involved.

It was such an weird film, Nothing like Kevin Smith's other works!

I was like *heart racing at 100mph* and then I was like *OMG* and then I was like *Really, are you serious?*

It was worth watching but as you said, it was confusing and disappointing too.
