Late to the smartphone party

So it seems the only people these days who don't have a smartphone are those that live under rocks. Well, today I came out from under my rock, wandered into the Orange shop and came out with a Samsung Galaxy SII.

Aaaand I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing.

I've never had even a touch screen phone before, let alone a smartphone, so this has come as a bit of a techno-shock to me. No more buttons, no more half-baked attempts to browse the web on my old phone. I've been plunged into the world of being constantly connected to social media, emails and apps.

I'm slowly sorting out my contacts, so that they match up with my Facebook friends. I've got my email set up so that's a go, and the first app I downloaded was- you guessed it- Angry Birds. It's free on Android, why wouldn't I? I've also downloaded a little game I heard about on IGN called Cordy, which is a platformer along the lines of if Sonic the Hedgehog and LittleBigPlanet had a baby.

I've literally had the phone a few hours, but I love it so far (not that I'm surprised by that). I do however feel this compulsive urge to be as careful with it as possible and not let it out of my sight, like some worrying mother goose. Let's face it- phones just aren't as sturdy as they used to be.

I have no case for it right now, because I'll be blown if I'm playing £20 for one in store. I've ordered one of those silicone wrap-around ones for it from Amazon for like £2.95, so we'll see if that's any good first.

I'm late to the party- but better later than never I guess.

You should check out Tiny Tower, it's pretty cool.

I wondered if that was on Android! Naomi has it and was addicted to it for a loooong time.
