I Am Alive: First Impressions.

Here at Zombie Outbreak HQ we strive to bring you the very latest reviews. But sometimes a lack of time and funds can make it difficult for us get a hold of and review the latest things. luckily Xbox Marketplace comes to the rescue with a large range of the demo's. So now, we can present to you reviews of 20 minutes versions of the latest games that you can download and play yourself completely free with out having to leave your seat, so you don't have to.... One of many public services we offer.

Finally released after a long wait and a lot of hype. I Am Alive a post apocalyptic survival platformer with quiet a bit of potential. On first impressions it had the makings of any Tomb Raider style platformer available today. But what really stands out is the survival aspect,  like most survival games supplies and ammo are scares so you have to use what you have wisely to survive but in this supplies are even more scares, during the demo i only came across one bullet just one bullet. Not only do you have to be careful with supplies you also have to be careful not to over exhaust yourself when it comes to climbing and run this game uses a stamina system similar to the one used in Shadow of the Colossus, which not only makes climbing tall structures tense but although stamina regenerates over time it doesn't always return you to full strength. Which means you have to use food and drink from your inventory to replenish it.

The combat in this game is very interesting, you can use melee weapons or guns just as i mentioned earlier bullets are very far between. Your gun is still a very useful in battle even without bullets. When encountering hostile characters  armed with just melee weapons, by pointing a gun at is enough to keep them at bay. A enemy when confronted with a gun will act realistic with fear and caution but if they realise the it is not loaded ( e.g. firing the gun without ammo) they will attack you. Other then this the combat leaves a lot to be discovered  with most melee attacks consisting of walking up close enough to a enemy for the " press X to attack" option to appear. It gives the impression that deception and tactics plays a large role when it comes to defeating the enemy. So far this games is looking good, the main character tends to narrate himself like and Alan Wake and the environment around you doesn't seem as open as you'd like but so far so good i only hope the full version is good as this seems.

Well this is the most complimentary review of this game I've heard so far. It's been slammed from what I gather.

I want to try it but I'm sure I'll quickly get pissed off by the survival mode. The whole point of a game is that it shouldn't be too life like! Its like in GTA when you can't run too long, fuck physics I want to fly and run and climb without getting out of breath, I also want to carry every type of weapon with ammo... in my tiny satchel...oh I can dream!
