Set in a not to distant future where robot boxing has replaced Traditional boxing to become the worlds most popular sport. Charlie Kenton (Huge Jackman) is a boxer turned small time robot boxing promoter/ controller. Down on his luck after his robot was destroyed he discovers that his ex girlfriend has died leaving him to care for their son Max (Dakota Goyo). Travelling together with their new robot Atom they soon gain popularity in the underground robot leagues.
Despite the fact that this movie was clearly inspired by those Rock' em Sock'em things from the 80's it's actually a pretty good watch. Yes it is very predictable and it does borrow heavy from lots of other film, Rocky most of all. In Fact it is basically Rocky with robots, not only is it Rocky with robots but the main characters back story is the plot of Rocky. So if you like it's a Black Forest gateau of Rocky with a bit of father son bonding mixed in...and robots, but it is fun to watch giant robots kick the crap out of each other.
