Monday Richard is unavailable to post you his regular artwork work and reviews today as he is frantically cramming revision for his final university exam tomorrow which involves a lot of complex hand waving and intense facial expressions! ( He's doing a British Sign Language Degree).
We wish him all the best!
Here's some last minute revision tips I found very useful with my exams!
Don't cram all your revision the night before your exam (trust me!) Your brain will get frazzled and due to the stupid way memory works, you will forget most of it the next day.Dr. Lewin from MMT says "Do not stay up late cramming for the test the next day because there is a good probability that the loss of sleep will erode your performance, and last-minute bits of information will not help much. There is some good news. If you sleep for an adequate period of time, then rehearsing or practicing your test material at bedtime will be very likely to improve your recall."
Do small chunks of revision over a longer period of time. Say and hour of revision and then two hours relaxing/gaming/watching a film? This will help your revision sink in deeper into your brain...BRAINNNSS...sorry the inner zombie in me..
Don't convince yourself that you are going to fail. If you think positive and actually try, there should be no reason for you to fail. Its all in your mindset!
Do get some sleep. Make sure you get around 9 hours sleep per night and have a regular bedtime routine! According to Dr.Lewin at MMT " Students can also remember better what they learned if they get a good night's sleep after learning the task. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, increases the incidence of academic failure. Adequate sleep will lead to improved memory" Try having a cat nap during the day (up to 45 minutes) to refresh your mind ready for your revision!
Don't freak out! If you pass, that's great well done! If you mess up, there's always a way of getting around it. In most cases you can retake your exam and if you can, your school, college or university will usually have revision classes to make sure you pass second time; remember, they want to help you pass because its their job (it also makes them look good which means bonuses for them!) If you have an illness or disability which causes you to have a bad day on your exam day, don't worry, simply apply for 'Extenuating Circumstances' and provide them with a Doctor's Note to back you up. This worked for me last week when I got really ill and missed my last exam :s You should be able to resit your exam without getting your grades capped at a pass or equivalent.
Do relax (is that even proper English? Oh well, it matches my layout!) Have a bit of 'me' time to relax and unwind. Run a bubbly bath, play some 90's classics and let your worries melt away. Or play a really brutal online game and let all your stress out by PWNING SOME N00BS!!
Good luck everyone!
