Synopsis: Goodreads:
Zoey needs a break after some serious excitement. Sadly, the House of Night school for vampyres doesn’t feature breaks on its curriculum—even for a High Priestess in training and her gang. Plus juggling three guys is no stress reliever, especially when one is a sexy Warrior so into protecting Zoey that he’s sensing her emotions. Wider stresses lurk too, and the dark force in Tulsa’s tunnels is spreading. Could Stevie Rae be responsible for more than a group of misfit fledglings? And Aphrodite’s visions warn Zoey to stay away from the immortal Kalona and his dark allure—but they also show that only Zoey can stop him. She’s not exactly keen to meet up, but if Zoey doesn’t go to Kalona he’ll exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. She just has to find the courage to do what’s necessary, or everything that’s important to her will be destroyed.
My Review:
Wow! Tempted was absolutely brilliant! I loved how P.C Cast really developed the relationship between Zoey and her friends, Zoey and Heath and Zoey and Stark in this novel. After all the testosterone battles between Erik, Heath and eventually Stark, Zoey is fed up, and ends her relationship with Erik. Now I understand that might be classed as a spoiler, but really it has absolutely nothing to do with the main story, and I'm uber happy about it!
It's no secret, I've never really liked Zoey and Erik together... Nor have I really liked Heath. It's in Tempted that I really begin to cheer for Zoey and Stark. I love the relationship they share, both due to the bond and their feelings for each other (trying to keep it spoiler free here...). But at the end of the day, Stark is able to keep his feelings professional when it matters... Except for at the end of this novel. Seriously, prepare the tissues!
Tulsa's House of Night has pretty much hit rock bottom - from where it stands, it doesn't seem as though it's going to be getting any better any time soon. Despite the unwilling departure of Neferet and Kalona, the influence Kalona had on the fledglings and vampyre's still exists in most of them. Unfortunately, this means Zoey and her gang aren't exactly welcomed back into the school.
I told everyone that I was going to bed, just so I could lie in bed till 2am reading Tempted, and then continued to finish it when I woke up. Honestly, I just didn't want to put this one down. I felt the same way with the other stories in the series, but Tempted truly had me gripped... A reason for this is due to the introduction of a new character: Rephaim, the raven mocker. Creepy right? Why would one of the bad guys have me hooked on the novel? Well no, I haven't fallen under Kalona's spell... But I have fall under Rephaim's. Honestly, I love Rephaim and I love the role he plays in Tempted.... I can't tell you anything though, because I think Rephaim's entire life in the novel is a spoiler! If you want to know about Kalona's favourite, read the novel!
So, after finishing and loving Tempted.... How long will I be able to keep my hands off Burned...?
