Predators.

Produced by the legendary Robert Rodrigues Predators is the latest film from the predator franchise. Staring Adrian Brody who plays Royce one of a group of soldiers and other dangerous kind of people from different backgrounds. Who find themselves on a mysterious alien planet being stalked and hunted for sport by a group of unseen foes.

This is the first Predator film I’ve seen since Alien vs. Predator and can I just start out by saying how glad I was that they sorted out the whole teeth thing, I mean honestly I keep read how if you want to succeed in the American market you need perfect straight teeth but that’s just ridiculous. Yes the predators mouth looks a bit like a vagina, and if your reading this Mr Rodrigues and somebody complains to you about that, tell them they’re a pervert.

The film its self borrows heavily from the original film. Not only is it set in a tropical jungle but a lot of the characters seem incredible similar to the characters from the first film. Such as the strong silent yakuza gangster who only has about two line and dies taking on the enemy single handed to give the others time to escape, the bald black bug eyed militia man, the heavy accented soldier with the massive fuck you gun and not forgetting the token nerd. I mean for fuck sake, the lead even covers himself in mud for the final encounter.

These similarities aside the film does try to mix things up a bit. This time round our “heroes” are up against not one but three predators and the fun does stop there kid, the jungles are also filled other previously unseen alien monsters.

So to sum it up Predators doesn’t really bring a lot of originally to the table and its plot twists are a bit predictable but what can you really expect from a action movie, it has violence and explosions what more do you need, plus seeing the skinny guy from That 70s Show get a retracting wrist blade thought the face is at least worth the rental price.
