Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Review

 Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Review

I saw the movie in 2D today and have to admit, I was surprised by the action and storyline.I loved every minute of it! The action scenes were awesome.  It's stupid, it's silly, but it's Abe Lincoln killing vampires with an axe and running the country at the same time. What is not to like? I wish all presidents can be this badass.  I had low expectations going into this film, but found myself thoroughly entertained by its dark comedy!

Unfortunately, this didn't happen :(

The fight scenes are gripping and funny, maybe a little over use of slow motion but still great to watch. *SPOILER* I'm sure this is the first film ever which uses a horse as a weapon. that is by grabbing it by the hind leg, swinging it around your body and throwing it at your enemy!

It is not as silly as you would expect though. The way Tim Burton and Seth Grahame-Smith made the film may just make you wonder if it could possibly be true. It is a great movie with a very interesting and almost believable story. I've read that all the historical aspects of Abe Lincoln's life and story were portrayed very accurately in the film. Those looking for crazy fun will be disappointed with how serious, and how much of Lincoln's life is actually included in this mash-up. Ultimately it was a history lesson and an action thriller all in one.

If I was taught like this at school, I would be a genius. Imagine the titles:

Ghandi the Dragon Whisper ,Einstein and the Ewoks or Martin Luther King the Werewolf Slayer

For the true nerds out there, see if you spot these two in the cast:
Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim vs The World and Wash from Firefly

If Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter tickled your fancy, Seth Grahame-Smith has other interesting novels available:
